Call with a callback

When you make a call with Callback, you first select the number you would like to call and then you press call on your dialing app. Amivox will now begin by calling your callback number and when answered, dial to the called number and finally bridge the calls together. Make Amivox calls on top of your current mobile subscription by using one of our Apps or web dialer.

Call bridged to other numbers

Callback calls can be bridged to any least cost number available. For example if you have an accessible landline, you can use it to increase your savings even more. You can bridge your call to any phone in the world and the phone does not need to be registered into Amivox. This way you can avoid roaming charges when traveling or staying abroad.

Calling with a Softphone

Some seconds later, you will receive an SMS message to your mobile phone containing your Amivox password. We recommend, when you login for the first time, that you change your password under “Account” to something that you will easily remember.

Q: Why do I need a mobile phone to register?

A: Amivox is a mobile centric solution. You will be able, among other things, to place inexpensive calls and send SMS messages via the service. All calls and SMS will arrive to the receiver from your telephone number. Therefore, your mobile phone number (including the country code) is the unique identifier of your Amivox account).

When you register to Amivox, we send you an initial password via SMS. Please use this password the first time you login to the service. We recommend, when you login for the first time, that you change your password under “My account” to something that you will easily remember, but can still be considered a “strong” password. Please notice that the same password and username are used for all Amivox services (http://www.amivox.com, http://www.amicast.com, http://m.amivox.com, mobile client, etc.).

Q: Why do I need a password?

A: To identify you account you need to sign in with your credentials: mobile number + password. (You can set your browser to remember your username and password for easy access). You can access your Amivox account from any PC or mobile phone with internet access. This way, you can borrow a phone from a friend to access Amivox (e.g., in case your phone is out of battery, or you have lost your phone, or you are abroad and want to bypass roaming charges, etc.) and you will still cover the costs for all Calls/SMS/Shout that you consume.

When you order a call with Amivox, your mobile phone receives first a callback. Once you have answered it, the system connects you with the number that you are calling. You can also change the number where you receive the initiating call (for instance, to a fix phone close by). This may be very applicable when you are roaming in order to save the cost of receiving calls when you are abroad (e.g., by redirecting your incoming call to the telephone in your hotel room or to a friend’s mobile phone). NOTICE: after you have changed your callback number to a number different than your mobile phone, you will be called at this number in all your subsequent calls. If you want to be called again at your mobile number (or any other number) simply edit again the callback number to the new number.

To change the callback number can be very useful in a number of situations.

- When travelling to other countries you can avoid paying roaming charges for incoming calls by choosing a local telephone number accessible to you.

- To use very cost effective telephony without having to be sitting in front your computer with a headset connected to your ear.

- When concerned about the radiation from your mobile in long calls.

- When running out of battery either on your mobile phone or on your laptop when travelling.

- Etc.

Q: When I place a call, why does the service call me first?

A: Before we start the call to the called party, we must make sure that you are ready to address that call. Therefore, the connection to the called party starts only right after you answer the call.

Q: Can I change the number where I receive the call?

A: Yes. If for example you are at home, you may decide to handle the call from your land line phone (and save additional money!). To do so, simply edit the callback number field.

Click on “SMS”, write your message and send it to your contact. If you are using Amivox from your mobile phone, please notice that the SMS message will not leave from your phone as with traditional SMS messages. Instead, Amivox will send your message using our network systems. This means that your mobile operator will not charge you for the price of the SMS.

In any case, whether you send the SMS message using Amivox from your computer or from your mobile, the receiver will see that the message comes from your mobile number. In case he/she replies to your message, it will arrive directly into your mobile phone.

Q: When I send SMS with Amivox, why are my messages not stored within my phone’s “Sent messages” folder?

A: SMS messages sent via Amivox are sent as a data package from your phone instead of a the traditional SMS. Therefore the messages are not stored within you phone but instead they are all visible from the PC interface. This way you automaticaly store all sent & received Amivox messages, have them always accessible, you never load your mobile phone‘s memory and you will never need to delete (hence loose) an important message
